Project: Arch. Fabrizio Bianchetti
The new building is located near the already existing “Carlo Porta” school complex, exploits the natural irregular gradient of the site and develops on one level only (to ensure excellent accessibility) at a lower level than the surrounding buildings (- 3 , 00 m), giving back to the whole area a usable green surface and the garden roof, to compensate for the green stolen for its realization. The structure minimizes the environmental impact thanks to a linear trend of juxtaposed volumes that stretch on the ground integrating into the surrounding park and into the green spaces in direct contact with the classrooms.
The classrooms are organized as multi-purpose and flexible spaces. They can be subdivided into smaller rooms with movable panels, as well as opened up through large glass surfaces towards the park spaces. Circulation spaces (atrium/agorà and corridors) are imagined as multifunctional places where people can meet, play, study, think, realize workshops or shows: a further extension of the space for learning and socialization. All the spaces face the park or the internal courtyards with meditative gardens.
