The opening of the new basketball court on 7 September 2026, attended by Mayor Sergio Bossi and councillors Elisa Zanetta, Loredana Abbate and Francesco Valsesia, marked the completion of BIANCHETTIARCHITETTURA’s regeneration project for Parco della Resistenza in Borgomanero.

The project aimed to make the park more accessible, welcoming and attractive, combining improvements to pathways, lighting and seating with new amenities designed to encourage social interaction and year-round enjoyment of this public space.

These include an events area at the heart of the park, a relaxation area, outdoor workstations, and spaces dedicated to play and sport, featuring table tennis, a skate park and a basketball court. The latter is enhanced by “Wine”, a street artwork by Giovanni Magnoli, known as Refreshink, which brings the language of contemporary art into a space for play.

Accessibility is central to the project: respecting the park’s historic layout, a barrier-free route now connects the three main entrances, with architectural concrete paving featuring an exposed-aggregate finish. Other paths, including the one leading towards the Agogna stream, have been refurbished with compacted limestone gravel, in keeping with the site’s natural character.

The lighting has also been completely redesigned. New pole-mounted LED luminaires allow the park to be enjoyed into the evening, while their varying mounting heights have been carefully chosen to blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings.

New seating in Cor-Ten steel and composite wood, designed specifically for this project by BIANCHETTIARCHITETTURA, completes the scheme.

The project preserves the park’s identity while expanding its possibilities for use, giving the community a renewed space to meet, relax and enjoy the outdoors.

The opening formed part of the celebrations for the 77th Festa dell’Uva (Grape Festival).
