Project:  Arch. Fabrizio Bianchetti

GINO is a particular Healthy Value seat for outdoors - designed by Architect Fabrizio Bianchetti and produced by Codal snc - which allows you to recharge your mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) while pedaling.

GINO is a product with a fun and allusive design recolling the image of celebrated cycling champions: in moments of rest, Gino allows you train a little while producing electricity through a dynamo contained in the frame, useful for recharging various mobile devices.

The Gino seat is made entirely of steel and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments such as lobbies, parks, squares or fairs and where it is useful to have a rest area with recharging spots.

GINO is sustainable and respectful of the environment both for the building materials used, which are entirely recyclable, and for the lifestyle (Healthy value) it suggests, inviting the user to greater physical activity and producing energy without the use of fuels.

Gino seat was installed in the external square at the entrance to the MiCo in Milan (entrance from via Gattamelata) which, together with other elements of street furniture such as benches, bicycle racks and lighting elements, makes up the public space.

Healthy value: the value of health

How many times have you thought "I'm going to join the gym tomorrow or I'm going to run tonight?" and how many times have you really done it?

According to an ISTAT survey, over 23 million Italians lead a sedentary lifestyle. Although people put the lack of time first among the main reasons for not practicing sports, it emerged, however, that the most impacting factor is actually the lack of motivation.

The idea of the new seat for community environments, Gino, starts from the observation of this situation.

Gino is a seat for parks, squares and common areas that allows a short rest stop and, at the same time, with its shape invites you to exercise and rewards by offering free energy in exchange to recharge mobile devices.

In Italy, the cost of obesity is equal to 1.8% of national health expenditure (2 billion, 600 million euros). Obesity, together with sedentary lifestyles, are the cause of numerous pathologies. Just think that four out of ten Italians are overweight or obese, one in four (16 million) suffer from hypertension and about 4 million people have diabetes (25% of which are not yet diagnosed). Problems related to Alzheimer's and Depression are also on the rise. Numerous scientific researches have shown that a correct lifestyle can reduce the risk of developing or aggravating the aforementioned conditions by up to 80% and generate a very strong impact both for people's health and for the state coffers. For every billion euros invested in prevention, it is possible to save up to 3 billion euros in assistance and treatment.
