Steel and glass: a minimalist project
The study for the renovation and the expansion of the historic building has provided the coverage of the inner courtyard with the adoption of a transparent enclosure held by a structure of steel ropes and laminated glass panels. From the compositional point of view, the inclusion of the new transparent pavilion stands in dialectical confrontation with the existing. The two buildings, the historic and the modern, mutually enrich themselves with the pleasant comparison of the different construction techniques: the "full" represented by the historic building and the "airy" transparency by the new pavilion.
